These are strange days

Strange, but very fortunate days

Everything seems to come down to this one point
The oeuvre by the Brothers Quay

I adore making lists
Lists about anything
Movies I've seen, concerts I went to,...
Maybe I should make one about my favourite lists?

At the top of one of them
The album Schattenspieler by Marcus Fjellström
To me, one of the best released this year
And what do I read about this album
"... Fjellstrom's music is perhaps like a sonic equivalent to the cinema of the Brothers Quay or Guy Maddin..."
Coincidence?

Schattenspieler on Miasmah (label)

To the bookshop
If you're lucky enough
Your eyes might catch a glimpse of the new novel by Jonathan Safran Foer
Tree of Codes

One might hardly read this book as a novel
Is it to be considered as a work of art instead?
(created by the belgian graphic designer Sara De Bondt
I really had to mention her)

Maybe
It certainly is an adaptation of the novel Street of Crocodiles by Bruno Schulz
In which words have been thrown away
Leaving a new story, inside the story
sTREEt OF CrOcoDilES, you know

Tree of Codes on Visual Editions (publisher)

And so, everyone who has once heard about the Quays
Knows, also this terrific new novel leeds to them
Their adaptation of Schulz's story
Is to be considerd as one of the ten best animated films of all time
If you would believe Terry Gilliam
And I do
(he also seems to like making lists)

That's two, one to go
The programmation of Cinema Zuid in Antwerp
They are showing some new and old shorts by the Quays this month
An unique event
Last time we were able to see some of their oeuvre in Belgium
Must have been 2007, at Cinema Nova in Brussels
I was there, and I will be in Antwerp the 15th of December
There's no excuse to be anywhere else!
